H A P P Y   N E W   Y E A R for the second time while workng on this painting... but it is very close to being done...

Getting near the end of this very long project. I should have the painting finished in the next several weeks. Ready to move on the the next one.

Getting very near the finish... Still have much of the far right side to do. Here's where it's at now. Clicking on the image displays a larger image, 1400 pixels wide.

Couple of hounds... the organized crime thugs.

OK... back at it... but while I was away, I started thinking about the next painting and started to develop a character concept. Not sure what the painting will be about but somewhere in the range of war and duck hunting... in fact, the working title is, "War and the Art of Duck Hunting"

I'm going to be tied up on another project for about a week, so I won't get much done. here's where it's at now...

Through an inter library loan I got hold of Richard Schmid's book, "Alla Prima." Very enjoyable reading and wonderful reproductions of his paintings. He is a strong proponent for creating color charts of your palette... each color in five steps down to pale tinted white and then each color mixed with every other color, one at a time, also down to pale tinted white in five steps. I've never done color charts before. I'm finding it quite an impressive and instructive task. I've been at it for several days now, so the painting is on hold for a moment.

The grip of technology... the character of technology that encases us with so many resources, points of view, avenues to travel that conclusions become increasingly difficult.

The evil twins...

Definitely seeing the end of this project... lot's of characters yet to finish...

nuther detail... I'm beginning to sense the end of this painting...

This area of the painting, lower right corner, is taking quite some time. it is the most complex part of the composition.


Over the above will be painted the tusked bramble beast as in the under painting below.


Brambles protect small creatures. Frogs are thought to be a barometer of earthly plundering. Easter eggs are schizophrenic, not knowing who they are working for...

Love this part...

I've been quite busy doing illustration work and have not hade as much time as I'd like to work on this painting... Hopefully I'll get my deadlines taken care of so I can get back here with more time.

Working on the ascending dewd.... He is the central figure in the painting's continuum. He is equally bad and equally good and so has no opposite in the world of the bizzaro. He is suspended where he is and content to be there.
