Welcome

This blog records the development of a single oil painting titled, "The Irreverent Rapture." -- It is a large painting - 44" x 72" - depicting what the "church age" Christian event known as the Rapture might look like... but in a "bizzaro" world, i.e. a world where everything is the opposite of what might be expected... the pious remain earthbound and the irreverent ascend.

It is a bit of satire; a composition to paint with a bunch of visual stuff - shapes, foreground, midground, background, etc.

"Societies need to come undone. How exciting when the first shirt button pops!" -Paul Gachot: gazpachot.blogspot.com. Big thanks to Paul who has made cogent suggestions and edited some of my rambling writing.

This is the first of a number of large oil paintings I intend to produce.

The earliest entries are at the bottom... newest at the top.

Below is a grayscale rough for the painting's composition.
